A place seemingly lost, but actually reachable within minutes from Sarzana (7 km), excellent for a relaxing holiday without leaving the village, but also as a starting point for excursions in Lunigiana, to the Cinque Terre, to the marble quarries of Carrara or the trails of the Apuan Alps, to Lerici and the Gulf of Poets, and to nearby art cities.
The rooms and apartments are not perfect, but in all of them, one can see love for hospitality and friendliness; the pool amidst the greenery is excellent, the stream with trout and ducks is charming, the donkeys are very friendly, and the cats are very affectionate.
The cuisine is simple but delicious, a mix of local traditions and influences from around the world, because as a friend once said, you would never believe it, but THE WORLD PASSES THROUGH HERE.
For those inclined towards worldly experiences (including cultural ones like the Festival della Mente, Soffitta nella Strada, concerts in the square), you can visit our son in Sarzana, a 15-minute drive to the OSTERIA DEI SANI, where you can enjoy a tasty bruschetta and typical Ligurian and Tuscan seafood or land dishes, with careful attention also to vegetarians or those with celiac disease. The visit to Fosdinovo with its castle and splendid view of the Tuscan islands is not to be missed.
The village is crossed by an ancient path that connects the towns of Giucano and Carignano, but which in ancient times and still shortly after the war served as a trade route with Parma and Reggio Emilia through the Apennines.
Every year a trekking with donkeys reaches us from Reggio Emilia on foot along the ancient route (www.aria-aperta.it). For hikers, we are located near the Via Francigena and the Lunigiana trekking route, along the path of partisan trails (the multimedia museum of the resistance at Prade di Canepari is beautiful). There is a CAI path and also a nice loop for mountain bike enthusiasts.
